// 03.2020 // Embassy symposium ('Systems are doing it for themselves') postponed due to Covid-19. Will try and put the text I was going to present in the sidebar. Also 'What's Ahead What's Known' closed for forseeable future. Stay safe all.

// 02.2020 // Workshop with fantastic Ranjana Thapalyal at Transmission for current exhibtion. Ranjana will be speaking on how epistemologies of the global south can help critique and remedy monoculturalism in academia. Think will be well worth it if you're around.

// 02.2020 // Super proud of 'What's Ahead, What's Known' group show (that's mostly text based with film contributions) opening this month at Transmission on insitutional practice. With contributions by Rehana Zaman, Alberta Whittle, Meenakshi Thirukode (Instituting Otherwise), Sulaïman Majali, Fannie Sosa and The Liverpool Black Women Filmmakers.

// 01.2020 // Will be speaking at a symposium hosted by EMBASSY gallery and Edinburgh College of Art "interrogating structural conditions and practices in the visual art sector in relation to value, labour and inequalities". Thank to Abi at EMBASSY for organising this!

// 12.2019 // Speaking on a panel for The Common Guild at Civic House followed by a probably super gorgeous dinner by the kitchen.

// 09.2019 // Will be writer-in-residence at Berwick International Film Festival. Think I'll be looking at art festivals as an apparatus of consolidation, and maybe the tension between culturally internationalist ideas of solidarity being supported by a financial network of homogenised globalisation. (??) Also opening Ashanti Harris Solo Show 'The Skeleton of a Name' at Transmission tomorrow. Come along if you're in Glasgow!

// 09.2019 // Will be in residency at Hospitalfield in late November. Probably looking at residency culture itself and how maybe its sort of like an underlying logic to the contemporary art world that encourages dislocation and myth of meritocracy.

¯\ _(ツ)_/¯

// 06.2019 // Speaking at 'Reorganising Cultural Institutions' conference at BALTIC (BxNU Institute). On the panel for 'Spatial/Social Justice' with Transmission. Will be talking about issues of complicity when galleries support direct-action community groups, especially in terms of forcing a proximity to whiteness onto grassroots organisations of colour. Also something on how unpaid creative labour is both an anti-capitalist gesture and a reinforcement of systems of precarity that further discriminate peoples depending on how they're socialised. More info. Contributions from Rosie Lewis (Angelou Centre), Layla Gatens (Spike Island), Sarah Munro (Baltic), Jonas Staal, Star and Shadow, Newbridge Projects, Rico Jakk and Rosa Stourac McCreery (Dynamix), Julie Lomax (a-n), Charles Esche (Afterall and Van Abbe), Marina Vishmidt etc! organised by Andrea Phillips. Come along if you're around but might be really long!

// 05.2019 // Awarded the Honours for Excellence in the Field of Critical Theory by a board of selectors from the Fine Art and Critical Studies department of the Glasgow School of Art for the paper 'Recapturing Difference: The Assimilating Desire of Late Liberalism and the Errantry of Joy'. Tysm! It's in the sidebar.
